With a background in fashion design and merchandising, Ver’s transition to a virtual assistant came after a successful stint in corporate roles. As she reflects on her career shift, Ver shares, "Due to the pandemic, the hybrid or work-from-home setup made me realize how convenient it is. I decided to search for freelancing opportunities."
Mastering the Balance: Work and Personal Life
Ver’s typical workday starts at 8 PM and extends until 3 AM, accommodating the time zone differences with her U.S. clients. Despite the unconventional hours, she manages her time effectively, ensuring a clear boundary between work and personal life.
"I set my boundaries really right now for work and personal time," Ver explains. "After work, I close my laptop and make sure that I don’t check my emails during the weekend unless there’s an emergency."
Outside of work, Ver dedicates her time to caring for her nine rescue cats and assisting her husband with their business. Her ability to maintain this balance is a testament to her commitment and organizational skills.
Contributing Creativity and Expertise
Ver serves as a Senior Graphic Designer. Her responsibilities include creating and refining graphics, ensuring they meet high standards before they are sent to clients. Ver finds this role rewarding, saying,
"It’s rewarding when clients extend their appreciation and recognize my work. They trust me to communicate directly with their clients, which is a significant responsibility."
Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Growth
One of Ver’s significant challenges has been managing the time difference between her location and her clients. However, her proactive approach and open communication with clients have led to flexible scheduling, making it easier for her to perform at her best. “The biggest challenge I faced was working at night,” Ver acknowledges. “But I’m thankful that both of my clients are very open when it comes to changing schedules.”
Ver has also taken steps to enhance her skills, including exploring video editing and other creative areas. “I’m trying to learn more skills like video editing and SEO,” she says. “Building relationships with clients is crucial, and upskilling helps me stay relevant and effective.”
